Taliyahs Heart Cath. ♥

On October 14th we had to take Taliyah to OKC for her heart catheterization.

"This is a procedure to examine blood flow to the heart and test how well the heart is pumping. A doctor inserts a thin plastic tube (catheter) (KATH'eh-ter) into an artery or vein in the arm or leg. From there it can be advanced into the chambers of the heart or into the coronary arteries".

That afternoon we were told her mitral valve was stable for now and that hopefully it would continue to stay stable for at least a year. The doctor said eventually she may need a mitral valve replacement and the older she gets the less risky it is. So I guess that is "good news" if there is good news in this situation. The scary thing that they found out for now is that her lungs are restricting her blood flow and that happens to be her biggest problem at the moment. She has been taking meds for 2 years that we were hoping would help and the way I understand it the meds haven't helped her lungs as much as it should because her lungs look worse. For right now they have upped her dosage to double the amount she was taking and we pray and hope you pray that it begins to work. When she goes back for a check up if they see it hasn't improved they will try another med. and after all meds they are not real sure what they can do. Please continue to pray for her. Thanks
